Despite making significant accomplishments in serving our community, we find that our traditional funding base has been declining. Government support for social services has decreased, while competition for foundation and corporate funding has increased. Instability in financial markets has affected many private donors who now give smaller grants and donations, while, at the same time, more community and faith-based organizations compete for decreasing amounts of funds. Our funding challenges impact the number of at-risk youths and needy adults we can serve. Unserved youths become vulnerable to gang influence. Adults face consequences such as unemployment or lack of access to medical care. We increasingly rely on private funding to offset reductions in government funding.
At The Cambodian Family, we are increasing our efforts to raise public awareness of the needs in our community and also the needs of our agency. We are striving to raise public awareness and attract donors/funders to support our agency and its programs. We especially need to attract "Friends of The Cambodian Family" to help us secure more funds, resources, and volunteers.
