Community Health Client Stories

One of our clients, a Vietnamese man had been imprisoned in a Vietnamese "re-education" camp for nearly 6 years. Shortly after his release in 1981, he began suffering from chronic nightmares, two times per week. He lived with these and other trauma symptoms for the next 20 years. In 2001, he joined our trauma healing project, "Opportunities for Change." After 4 weeks, his nightmares ceased. After 2 months, his panic attacks decreased in intensity, and by the fourth month in the project, they ceased entirely. He's been part of the project for about 1 ½ years, and his symptoms have not returned. He"s rarely angry now, shares more love with his family, and experiences more well-being and pleasure in life.
